A lovely, low mileage and low ownership Ford Escort XR3 5 speed. First registered in September 1982, this unmolested and completely standard example has covered only 78782 miles from new in the care of just three previous keepers.

Quickly becoming very sought after and seen by many as the next 'big thing' by the classic Ford collectors, this stunning example will not disappoint.

Finished in the original factory colour of Sunburst Red with Red Laser cloth, this car really does look lovely. The paint finish remains consistent throughout and all panels have an excellent finish and deep shine. The odd, very small and well touched in stone chips just confirm this cars originality and do not detract in any way. All the factory fitted tinted glass remains in excellent condition. All window rubbers and weather strips are still supple and in excellent condition and within keeping with a car that has been garaged throughout it's life. All plastic bumper corners are excellent and damage free. The correct and original Hella H4 headlamps are crystal clear and the optional front driving lamps are excellent. The rubber rear spoiler is still lovely and straight and is still soft in it's feel. The optional factory fitted tilt and slide sunroof is very smooth in it's operation and only a small amount of discolouration is visible on the glass upon close scrutiny. This is a truly stunning example that certainly defies it's 35 years...

Internally, the car is just superb! Presented in a completely standard, original and un-messed with condition, this interior really is as nice as we have ever seen on one of these. The correct Red Laser cloth remains remarkably tight and damage free. The bolsters are still in excellent shape, with only the smallest amount of wear on the lower drivers side seat. The dashboard is incredible and has zero cracks and is distortion free. The Shark Grey deep pile carpet is clean and damage free. All plastics and door cards remain in excellent and scuff free condition. The charcoal perforated head lining is still tight and damage free and the roof mounted digital clock is still bright and clear. The original Ford radio cassette player is still present and in full working order. The two spoke leather sports steering wheel and gear knob are showing very little signs of wear and they are excellent. The rear parcel shelf is as good as we have ever seen in any MK3 Escort and is completely straight and with no signs of colour fade. It goes without saying that no speaker holes have ever been cut in to it. The boot carpet is excellent. The cabin really is a special place to be.

The correct date stamped Cloverleaf alloy wheels remain in a very good and undamaged condition and they still remain in an un-refurbished state...a very rare thing these days.

Mechanically the car is excellent and has recently benefitted from a full cam belt service and tune up ( this was done less than 20 miles ago ). The car responds well and the gear box is smooth and precise. Having been maintained throughout it's life, the original service booklet is present and contains around half a dozen stamps. There are numerous old mot certificates, tax discs, service invoices, bills and receipts that together make a nice and comprehensive history file.

With a current MOT until June 2018 this incredible example is ready to be used and enjoyed. Complete with the current UK V5 registration document and owners manuals. In our opinion, good examples of these cars are just getting harder and harder to find and we very much doubt that you will find anything that is better...a lovely, standard and useable car...
