Beautifully preserved and cherished since new, this 1993 Ford Escort XR3i has been with it's current owner for over 23 years. Being a retired ex Ford employee, this car has wanted for nothing and it has been garaged, used sparingly and loved throughout it's life.
Having covered just 46,394 miles and impeccably maintained, this original example is a very, very rare, true survivor. Never damaged, painted or welded...it has never had one single mot advisory! The condition really is remarkable.
The original coat of Radiant Red paint is consistent across all of the original factory fitted panels. The depth of shine is superb and a garaged and cosseted lifestyle is evident. There is no paint fade or UV damage at all. The wheel arches, petrol filler surround, battery tray and sills are all exceptional. Floor pans are factory original and are clear for all to see. The colour-coded plastic bumpers are damage and crack free and the black inserts are un-faded. The rear boot spoiler is lovely and all boot badges are excellent. The original factory tinted glass is scratch free and is security etched. The quick clear heated front windscreen is free from chips. All window rubbers are still soft and supple and weather strips are undamaged. Original head lights and front fog lights are crystal clear and undamaged. Genuine Ford clip on head light protectors are fitted. The boot floor and wheel well are remarkably clean and the alloy spare wheel is still fitted with it's original and unused Michelin MXV tyre. The jack and wheel brace have never been used. It is just a delight to see a MKV XR3i in such a wonderful and preserved state!
Internally, the Slate Grey Panache Sports Seats are in an excellent and undamaged condition. The bolsters are still firm and perfectly shaped and the cloth is un-stretched. The carpet is excellent and has been protected with over-mats since new. Door cards, dashboard and switchgear are excellent and the 3 spoke perforated steering wheel is lovely. The head lining is perfectly shaped and is clean and free from stains. The louvered sunroof blind slides freely. The original and correct 2007 RDS stereo is fully functional and the security code is contained within the history file. The rear parcel shelf is perfectly straight and has never been cut for additional speakers. The factory fitted tilt and slide glass sunroof opens freely and the glass is unmarked. Some 25 years down the line and this interior still feels like a very special place to be...just lovely.
The cost option 6x14 alloy wheels still remain in a completely un-refurbished condition and they present very well. Just some light marks do not detract from the visual appeal and originality. The correct Michelin MXV tyres are fitted at the rear and Michelin MXV 2 are fitted up front.
The engine bay presents in a lovely, untouched condition. It isn't detailed or polished to death...it is just original and clean. The front wing rails and inner wings are nice and clean and the original battery tray is excellent. The 1.8 16v 105 BHP engine is clean and free from leaks. All factory applied stickers are still in place and pdi markings are clearly visible throughout. The sound deadening bonnet pad is intact and excellent.
Mechanically, the car is excellent and it drives superbly. The engine performs well and the clutch is light...the gear change smooth and precise and the brakes bring the car to a stop without fuss or drama. The first 11 services were carried out by the original supplying main Ford agents, Gordon Ford Colwyn Bay. Being a Ford employee and now retired, the car has since been serviced every year by the current owner, using only genuine Ford parts and oils. A full cam belt service will be carried out upon sale.

First registered on 26th January 1993 by Gordon Ford of Colwyn Bay, the first owner, Mr B R Clarke kept the car until May 1995. Having known the car through a friend of a friend since new, Mr I Jones had heard that Mr Clarke had part exchanged the Escort against a BMW. Mr Jones immediately tracked the car down to a local dealership, Celtic Garages and on the 5th May 1995, it became his pride and joy. It has remained in his care ever since. A copy of the advert in the local newspaper is present within the history file.
It will be very difficult to find one of these that is anywhere near as good...it will be nigh on impossible to find a better example in both condition and pedigree.
Supplied with the current V5 registration document, full Ford handbook pack, spare keys, locking wheel nut key and a very comprehensive history file...they just don't come any better!
