The Holy Grail? If you have been searching for one of the finest Fiat/Bertone X1/9, then your no doubt "endless" search may very well be over. This is without doubt the finest example currently on the open market and will also be one of the best, original and un-restored examples that still exist...worldwide! The original Marn Fiat main dealer order form and invoice confirm its 1 owner credentials and with just 15,323 miles since new...where on earth will you ever find another original, un-restored 1 owner Fiat X1/9 VS with such low miles and presented in original, exceptional condition? With no fewer than 11 service invoices contained in a lovely and comprehensive history file, this is a genuine "one off" opportunity that is very unlikely to be repeated anytime soon.

The original sales order form confirms that Mr A Parfitt visited Marn Garage (Camberley) LTD on the 1st August 1984 and placed an order for a brand new Fiat X1/9 VS finished in Metallic Silver over Charcoal Metallic, or Argento Metallic over Grigio Scuro if you prefer. The registration number chosen was B789 LOY and the dealer fitted option for a Sparkomatic SR312F radio cassette was requested....it is still fitted today and is fully functional. A separate invoice also details the option of Mud Flaps front and rear...again, these are still fitted. A collection date of the 4th August 1984 was agreed and remarkably, this little Fiat X1/9 sits here today in the same original ownership and in a condition that is very close to it leaving the showroom in 1984.

Being enthusiast owned, garaged, loved and cherished since brand new, this fastidious ownership has helped to keep the almost "factory fresh" condition. The paintwork is just stunning and has a beautiful deep lustre which is consistent across all of the factory fitted body panels. Just a couple of touch ups were carried out by the supplying dealer way back in 1989 and this is documented on an invoice in the history file. Having put the camera onto full zoom, these can be seen in photographs 194 and 195. A couple of small stone chips are present and totally within keeping with its 15,323 miles.  Photograph 199 is of the light pod access area and this demonstrates just how remarkable this car really is. it is exactly the same in the door apertures, rear wheel arch tubs, rear luggage compartment, engine bay and front luggage area. Under the wheel arches are very clean and reveal original brake lines etc...

All lights, weather strips, rubbers and chrome are in fantastic condition. The pop-up head lamps work perfectly. Bumpers are nice and straight and the plastics are free from scuffs. Only a couple of "fly splat" marks to the lacquer to the front bumper are visible upon closer inspection.

Internally is again just superb and so original. The red leather sports seats are just excellent and only the drivers seat shows very light signs of 15,323 miles of careful use. The leather gear shift gaiter, 4 spoke steering wheel and door cards are excellent and free from any damage or scuffs. Door lights are working perfectly. The deep pile black carpet is like new and photographs 108, 109 and 110 show the inner front wheel arches and pedal box. All stalks, switchgear and electric windows are working perfectly. This cockpit would have been a very special place to be back in 1984...today in 2022...it really does feel exceptionally special!

The correct Cromodora CD-179 alloy wheels remain in an excellent and un-refurbished condition and showing only the smallest of marks...due to the cars originality we have decided to leave these. They are just genuine and look beautiful. Matching Firestone tyres are fitted all round.

The engine bay presents very very well. It has not been messed with or steam cleaned...just well kept throughout its 38 years. All factory stickers remain in place. Benefitting from 11 services in its 15,323 miles its last one was carried out in August 2021 with 15,203 miles and consisted of a new cam belt kit, fuel pump, oils and filters and all brakes stripped and cleaned. It starts, runs and drives fantastic and genuinely feels like a new car. It is so tight and the clutch and gear box feels superb.

We could go on and on about this little car all day...but we won't. Please take the time to study the 201 photographs to appreciate just how good this X1/9 really is. If you have knowledge of these cars, then you will fully appreciate what a unique opportunity this is.
