Cavalier 1.8 GL
A wonderfully preserved and immaculately presented 1990 Vauxhall Cavalier 1.8 GL MK3 with just 12310 miles from new. Please appreciate that this particular example cannot be confused nor compared with any other that is on the open market today...or that is ever likely to come to market in the future.
Being one of the most favoured "Sales Rep" cars of all time, the majority of these cars covered well over 100000 miles within the first three years of their lives and were basically used to do a job. With a very recent, sharp increase in values on good examples of models like the SRi, it is only a matter of time before these follow suit. As always, the problem will be finding a good one...this particular car is not just a good one, it is exceptional in every way and we would confidently suggest that it is the nicest, cleanest, most original and unmolested example that exists.
Finished in optional Rembrandt Silver metallic, this car has evidently been fanatically cherished since day one. The paint finish is simply superb throughout and it is very difficult to find any imperfections at all. Apart from a couple of very, very tiny and well covered stone chips...the finish is flawless! Needless to say that every panel is factory fitted and free from damage and the panel gaps are exceptional. The car has received no paint rectification whatsoever. With the registration plates removed, you would very easily be forgiven for thinking that the car was brand new and ready to display in a Vauxhall showroom in 1990. The original supplying dealer number plates, tax disc holder and key ring are still present. The boot shuts, boot floor, door frames and door shuts are as new...if not better. The door hinges have been lightly greased for preservation, however this would wipe off to reveal "as new" door hinges. All the rubber door seals and boot seal are again as new. The window mouldings, sunroof seal and all the glass is unmarked. The outer sills are unmarked and still covered in their original factory applied stone-chip protection. The floor pan and fuel tank have been professionally under sealed to protect against the elements. Overall, the level of preservation is quite simply...stunning!
The factory grey cloth is unmarked and free from any signs of wear. The front and rear seats still retain their "as new" look and feel and the cabin has that new car smell. The texture of the gear knob, hand brake gaiter and steering wheel are as you would find on a new car. The carpet still retains its deep pile and is again, as new. The kick plates and plastics, speaker surrounds and all switch gear are completely unmarked. The head lining is as you would expect and follows the same theme...as new! The electric windows and mirrors operate as quickly and smoothly as when new. The original Phillips Radio Cassette and electric aerial are still present and in perfect working order. The whole interior is simply remarkable...
Wheels and Tyres:
The car is still shod with the correct and original fitment of Goodyear Eagle 185/60/14 NCT 2 tyres ( now unavailable ) and are showing no signs of age related perishing. The original wheel trims are free from any marks and scuffs. The full size factory supplied spare wheel is still fitted with a brand new and unused Goodyear Eagle 185/60/14 NCT 2 tyre. All tools are present and unused.
Engine and Transmission:
As you would expect, this car is still as standard and unmodified as the day it rolled off the production line. Quite often, cars with such low mileage are supported with either very little or very sketchy service history details. The service details for this particular example are as follows:

A full service including the cam belt change will be carried out this week along with a new 12 month MOT test.
First registered by Jessups Ilford LTD on 01/03/1990, this incredible example has had one private owner until 2007 and has since been owned and cherished by a further three collectors. It is now ready to be enjoyed and hopefully used by its new owner. The original handbook pack, including service book, owners manual, radio operating guide, radio security code etc are all present. Two original keys and one alarm fob are present along with some old MOT certificates and invoices.
This is a very unique and possibly unrepeatable opportunity to purchase an "as close to new" Vauxhall Cavalier MK3 as you will ever find. The car will stand up to any scrutiny and is most definitely one for the most discerning Vauxhall/modern classic car collector.
