A truly beautiful 2 owner un-restored 1992 Ford Escort RS Cosworth Lux ( big turbo ) which has covered just 20,416 miles since new. Even in its early life, it was never used as a daily car. It has only ever had summer use.
Still wearing all of its original factory fitted body panels, all factory date stamps are clearly visible for all to see. It lines up and sits perfectly, as you would expect. Its heated garage storage since new has ensured that this example is completely and 100% corrosion free. This isn't a car that has been stripped on the underside and prepared for concours, it is just lovely and clean and original. Supplying dealer OMC Ford number plates remain fitted both front and rear.
Finished in the Ford Escort RS Cosworth launch colour of Mallard Green metallic, the factory applied paint still remains throughout and is in beautiful order across all panels. It still retains a deep shine and is virtually flawless...a few tiny chips to the bonnet edge and totally within keeping with a low mileage car that is still in original paint. The panels are arrow straight and free from even the smallest of dents...there are zero dents. Bumper corners are free from any scuffs or damage and the rear spoiler is perfect. The rubber seal at the base of the spoiler is as new ( usually a weak spot on these ). Factory fitted glass remains throughout and all security etching matches. The glass is free from scratches and the factory fitted glass tilt and slide sunroof is again perfect and free from any watermarks. All weather strips and rubbers confirm the garage kept life style...they still look and feel like new. Head lights, fog lights, indicators and rear lamp lenses are crystal clear and free from damage or cracks. As soon as you see it you can just tell how original it is...it is truly stunning!
Internally is as close to new as you are likely to find. The Raven leather Recaro seats are perfect and free from scuffs or damage. The rear seats appear to be unused and they've certainly not been used in the current ownership of 13 years. Factory stickers are still on the seat belts and the seat runners and the seat runners themselves are like new. The seat bolts would indicate that the seats have never been removed at any point. The carpet still appears as new and has been protected by over mats. The seat bolsters remain perfectly shaped. Door cards and dashboard are unmarked. All dials are clear and bright and fully functional. The original Ford radio cassette and CD player are in place and working correctly. A high end Clifford alarm system was fitted years ago at the request of the insurance company and the little led is the only thing internally that is additional to factory standard. Some 28 years after launch, this cabin is still a very special place to be.
The factory standard and correct alloy wheels remain in a un-refurbished condition and look superb. They are free from any lifting or blistering and a few light marks do not detract from how well they present. Matching Toyo tyres all round still retain a great amount of tread.
At 3 years old and with just 13,000 miles, the original owner took the decision to have a 375 bhp engine conversion carried out by the very well respected Graham Goode Racing. We have driven quite a few of these over the years and have always found them to be quite laggy and hard work at times, however, this one drives exceptionally well and the conversion seems to have eliminated that usual lag? It's smooth and free of any knocks, bangs or creaks and just feels so tight. You can tell that it has never been pulled apart and rebuilt. It picks its feet up incredibly well and performs superbly and it puts its power down and stops without fuss. Just superb!
If you check the online mot history you will see that it has never failed an mot nor had an advisory. It has just been mot'd for 12 months and has also benefitted from a full cam belt service, water pump, coolant and brake fluid change and a thorough check over. It also had a full cambelt service in 2015 and just 146 miles ago! So, 2 cam belts in 146 miles!
First registered on 16/10/1992 by OMC Ford of Macclesfield the first owner registered the car to his business. He then transferred it in to his own name. The current owner of 13 years purchased it directly from the original owner. It has had just 2 owners, however due to the above it shows as 2 previous on the V5.
Complete with current V5, original hand book pack, a host of historic mots, service invoices and receipts, 2 original keys and 2 Clifford alarm fobs. In our opinion this will be one of, if not the best that is currently on the market and it's original and beautiful condition will be difficult to replicate.
